Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Here you will find answers to the questions most often asked of us. If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us. Toll free 800.327.5059
Will Hallett Gutter Cover® handle heavy downpours?
Yes. When properly installed, Hallett Gutter Cover® can handle almost any amount of rainfall. It has been tested in conditions up to 6 inches of rain per hour. Our one-piece design allows only water to enter you gutters by surface tension and electromagnetic attraction. Water follows the curved surface into your gutters while causing debris to fall over the edge.
Is ice a problem?
Hallett Gutter Cover® won't solve any ice problems, but it will not create any new ones. It helps eliminate ice build up in your gutters and downspouts, which can lead to severe damage. Ice and snow will sit on top of the cover, not in your gutters.
Will pine needles, seedlings or other debris find it's way into the guttering?
Debris and leaves are mostly blown into open top gutters, which can cause severe clogging and the need for messy gutter cleaning. In most cases, if small bits of debris do enter your gutter, they will flush through the gutters and out the downspout.
It is important that the guttering be cleaned thoroughly before installation. An annual inspection of the gutters and downspouts is recommended.
Can Hallett Gutter Cover® handle steep roofs?
Yes. The pitch of the roof will not effect its ability to work. Depending on your gutter installation, the gutter cover may need to be bent up or down for a better fit to the roof edge.
Will Hallett Gutter Cover® work on cedar or tile (slate) roofs?
Yes, but extreme care and caution should be taken when installing and installations may be limited to new roofs only, as these types of roofs may break when lifted to install the gutter cover.
Will Hallett Gutter Cover® work with vinyl guttering?
No. Hallett Gutter Cover® has been tested and it was found that most vinyl guttering does not have the lip to accommodate our product.
Can Hallett Gutter Cover® blow off in the wind?
No. The shingles hold the top of the gutter cover and the other end is snapped into the clip that is screwed to the guttering.
How about the inside corners and roof valleys?
All inside corners and roof valleys need a deflector to insure no water run off. Screening may be used in place of the deflector, but it is recommended to use the deflector to insure proper water flow.
What about the outside corners?
Determine the angle of the corner and cut cover to match, allowing 1/2 inch overlap of the cover and screw together.
Should the ends of Hallett Gutter Cover® be covered?
Yes. Birds and small animals may find their way into the guttering through any open ends. To eliminate this, it is important to bend the gutter cover down into the gutter on the inside of the end cap, leaving no openings.
Is there a warranty?
Warranty is void if the installation is improper.
